Evaluations
Before providing therapy services, we take the time to carefully review each client’s history and complete a thorough evaluation to identify strengths and areas of need. This allows us to properly support every child with sufficient data.
How do evaluations work?
Evaluations have a few steps:
Consultation - We’ll start with a quick phone call to make introductions and get a general idea of your child and your concerns. Sometimes, our consultations are simply conversations with recommendations.
Intake - If we decide to proceed with an evaluation, you’ll fill out a few forms that give us a full picture of your child’s medical, academic, and developmental history. We will also set up a plan for payment & insurance.
Evaluation - Your child’s evaluation can be conducted either in your home, in a public space like a library study room, or via Zoom for Healthcare. Evaluations vary in length based on the areas of consideration. A full dyslexia evaluation may take more than two hours; occasionally, we will divide an extended evaluation into multiple sessions at no extra charge.
Review - Your child’s evaluation culminates in a comprehensive report that includes diagnostic impressions, interpretation of results, and recommendations for follow-up care. We will meet face-to-face, usually on Zoom for convenience, and the results will be explained in-depth. You’ll have the chance to ask the clinician any questions, and we’ll make a plan for treatment.
How will I pay for the evaluation? Is this required for therapy?
We accept Anthem BCBS insurance, depending on your plan. We also offer private pay options for all of our services. Examples of private pay rates are below:
Comprehensive Language & Literacy Evaluation: $500
Language-only or Speech-only Evaluation: $250
Speech Therapy (45 minute session): $100/session
We are able to accept payment via credit card or check.
All clients are required to complete a formal evaluation prior to receiving speech therapy. This is to ensure that our clinician has enough data to establish a certifiable plan of care for your child.
